Updating the outside of your home creates the kind of curb appeal that encourages prospective homebuyers to come in and see the interior of your property. The changes that you make do not have to be expensive, nor do they have to be time-consuming to complete. Use the following tips to clean up your home’s appearance fashionably and affordably.
1. Upgrade the Front Door
Often the first part of the home that buyers get to see, the front door needs to look clean and well maintained. If your door is looking its age, you might want to consider replacing it. At least put on a fresh coat of paint.
2. Door Knockers and Door Bells
An attractive door knocker might be exactly what your front door needs to make it stand out. If you already have a door knocker, why not add a door bell?
3. Paint Fences and Stain Decks
If your yard has a wooden fence, give it a fresh coat of paint. Choose a neutral color that blends well with your home’s exterior. While you are at it, stain the deck with an attractive color so that it looks brand new.
4. Replace Seat Cushions
Even if you aren’t leaving your patio furniture for the new owners, new seat cushions deliver a “wow” factor that is hard to deny. Instead of faded, worn-out cushions, your patio furniture is sporting colorful pads and pillows that look attractive and stylish.
5. Replace Trash Bins
Dented, dirty, and odorous trash bins can be a real turnoff. Consider getting rid of your trash receptacles entirely or replace them with new ones.
6. Update the Mailbox
An unattractive mailbox might be a small thing to worry about, but since it is so minor, replacing it won’t cost you much at all. The new one does not have to be expensive. It just needs to look nice.
Curb appeal is important when you are trying to sell your home. Walk out to the edge of your property and evaluate its appearance. Fix anything that looks ugly, worn, or cheap, so potential buyers are interested enough to take a look.
